So last February I brewed this RIS. I had forgot about this extra bit that we had put in to a small 2.5 gallon carboy. Well, I ran across it today, and was like whoa! But then I saw that the airlock was bone dry and in one corner has a little nugget of furry green mold in it. The beer looks like the very top has a film of green on it, but I can' tell if it is mold or maybe some hop material that somehow floated to the top. Would you guys risk it or dump it? I generally don't like mold around anything, but this is Beer!!

well, based on my reading, nothing that can kill you can live in fully fermented beer at an avg abv. So taste a bit and see is you like it. If you do, transfer off the mold stat, and enjoy

I had a stout in the fermenter when my daughter was born. It was like 8 months before I got around to moving it. There was a layer of mold so thick you could probably float a basketball on it. I drank it. It tasted fine. It had some kind of off flavor from an infection, but it was pretty minor. I would have drank it if I didn't have a bunch of other brews on deck, so I dumped it. I'd give it a try if I were you.

Yeah, I once had a blonde ale with a white pellicle forming. I racked it from the very bottom, leaving the last bit with the pellicle behind.I carbed and chilled it and took it to a party the following day. People raved about it.
