Isn't that the Brit forum? Do they think it matters?

I've used both kinds of sugar as fermentables and for priming. you just need to know which one you are using to hit the desired gravity or volumes of CO2.

Jim's is one of our LHBS, been in operation since 1954 ish, they don't listen much when new or alternate ways of brewing are mentioned, just mentioing batch sparging is like saying gravity goes up in that store.

very!
sadly they used to be a pretty advanced homebrew shop, still decent, but the enthusiasm for brewing is flat gone

I brewed 'something' last night. I was actually just fooling around testing out the MLT i had just put together. I put a few pounds of grain in it and did a live mash to check for leaks/problems.
I hadn't planned on doing anything with the wort, but when i was done i was like, screw it, might as well boil it up for starters, or something. When it got to a boil i remembered i had some hops from last year in the freezer. I decided to make up a batch. It'll be interesting...
I ended up with:
5# 2-row
.25# C40
2oz roasted barley
Mash at 152 for 60
Boil 15 min
1oz amarillo 12 mins
1oz centennial 12 mins
1oz columbus whirlpool
~2 gal at 1.060.
hmmmm...
This beer actually came out really good. I threw in a couple of ounces of dry hops early this week and it gave it the aroma kick that it needed. I had old unopened packages of Hallertau and Northern Brewer, so in they went. It's really an Americanized London Porter. It came in very dry and is quite drinkable for the 6+% ABV. The RB adds a coffee-like character. Interesting beer overall.

Do they ban you from the store if you ask for a Brew in a Bag setup?

After a longer-than-I-would-have-liked delay, I ordered the new burner and final bulkhead for the new brewrig. Just some PVC and high-temp tubing away at this point. Woot!

Thanks brother. There were a couple times in there that I almost considered going back to extract, just to get it done!

Looks like I'm really close to having the book finished, so brewing is on my mind. Gonna be 100+ here this week, so it'll be a Zymatic brew session.
