Title says it all. What would you pay for a tall boy of double IPA or IPA for that matter?

Hypothetical Question - How much would you pay for a 16oz can of IIPA?

Doesn't Torpedo come in 16oz cans? I suspect they are $4 - $5 at the store. If it was a good fresh IIPA I'd pay that.

Far too many variables. Are we talking something legendary and rare or just some new micro's offering? Bar/Restaurant of grocery store?
Somewhat related, the gas station in my buddy's neighborhood stocks Ruination. Gas station. My how the world has changed.

Local hyped micro for this discussion. One of those you need to stand in line and wait to get because you can only get it there.

waiting in line makes me want to pay less which means I'm probably not buying it

Well in that case, whatever they're asking. If you're going through all the trouble, price should be pretty low on the decision tree.
Reminds me of the Mt. Vernon distillery. You sign up, wait for months, stand in line for hours and then shell out $100-200 for a freaking 375ml. The whiskey isn't even that good!

I paid $80 for 10 cans of Heady. My awesome nephew spent $30 in bubble wrap and shipping. I could have driven to RI to smack him.
I remember spending 76 for a full case many times... the good old days.

For me it would help the decision if I go or not. Not 1-2 large for a 375ml of whiskey is crazy in my mind.

Well sure, and if that's the case the answer is easily no. But if that's your thing, does it matter if the beer's $10/can vs $20? You're paying for rarity here, not commodity.

$5 is about right. But if is was something rare I would spend $10 for a can to try it. After that I will just drink my own.

How much is Heady Topper these days?
no idea but this was from an article last fall
"Heady Topper is distributed by the Alchemist within a 30-mile radius of the brewery. The Alchemist sells Heady Topper to all of its retail accounts for the same price: $10 for a four-pack of 16-ounce cans, Kimmich said. The mark-up is determined by the retailer. The beer is to be sold from a refrigerated case."

What is rare? if a beer is available 2-3 times a month is that rare?

I wouldn't spend much because I generally do not care for things that have a premium price tag on it, artificially or not. There was an IIPA at a local brewpub here and I was out with some other hombrewers. The beertender said she had 3 or 4 bottles of this IIPA left and they were 22-ounce bombers for $7.50. We bought two of them and the beer was very nice. But I wouldn't do that very often.
Wait, you and an IIPA?? Were you feeling OK

Lulz. I always say that I can enjoy a beer like that with some buds and the same would go for a stout and some others... I just don't want 5 gallons of it around because I probably won't drink it quick enough.Wait, you and an IIPA?? Were you feeling OK

Invite Chicago area blewbies over to help with that. Weekends when the wife and daughter are in Galena are ideal.
