I just remember EVERYONE used to talk about "omg I used the Servomyces, and muh beer exploded in a good way!!!!111"And then it turns out servomyces was just dead yeast. If dead yeast is a good nutrient, then why not boil it to kill it?Boiling yeast for the win....Marmot

Seems like you're investing quite a bit of material. Why not just order a fresh yeast?Four Gallons Cider, One gallon Motts apple juice, One pound of orange blossom honey. My yeast (white labs sweet mead) is old as hell, intended for use January of this year, been in the fridge the whole time, so I have my fingers crossed that its viable. To help things along I used my ghetto yeast nutrient: bakers yeast... I boiled the yeast in the Motts apple juice for a minute. Then I reduced the heat so I could dissolve my honey in it.Hopefully I get the ol airlock a bubblin.

Part of it is an experiment to see if old ass yeast can do anything past its expiration date. The other part is stupid cheapness.Seems like you're investing quite a bit of material. Why not just order a fresh yeast?

Yeah, I would make that two separate projects.Part of it is an experiment to see if old ass yeast can do anything past its expiration date. The other part is stupid cheapness.

That's fine w me... Wanted something a bit dryer but sessionable.Only one pound of honey? What was the OG - 1.070? That's going to be more like a cider than a true cyser.

I was planning 10-12 lbs of sage blossom honey to go with my 4+ gallons of fresh pressed apple cider.Anybody got an opinion on this?Only one pound of honey? What was the OG - 1.070? That's going to be more like a cider than a true cyser.
