Single stage. I have been really happy with it so far, and couldn't find any real reviews to suggest one brand over the other. So, I bought the same one again. I hope that doesn't turn out to be a mistake. Is it a two stage controller? Mine did the same thing about a week ago and I noticed that it was on my heater stage that was giving me trouble because it would make the differential around 30F and that was giving it the E2 code. I simply lowered the heater stage temperature to 2F with a 2F differential and I haven't had a problem with the cooling stage at all. The E2 code seems to be a common problem with the Ranco controller, so I'm pretty sure I will buy a johnson controller when this ones kicks the bucket!

That was $70 after I added 2 day shipping. So, it was a good price. I can't complain about that. And, last night, my old one started working again. So, now it seems like I have 2 as well.Have two Ranco's and now two Love Controllers, I prefer the Love's and they were cheaper too at only $49, they offer a defrost cycle on the menu which works well with the aircon controlled cold room.Nothing wrong with the Ranco's, and not yet had any issues. They can also be had a lot cheaper than $70.... ebay has some for under $60
