My son just showed me this game. Press either Q or P to select the correct answer. As each round progresses the timer gets faster and the problems move from basic arithmetic to things like time determination ("If it is 43 minutes past 10:38, what time is it?") and all sorts of other stuff.

I lost on round five. 20 Ã· 2. My choices were 18 and 10. In my effort to get the answer in before time ran out I inadvertently selected 18 because I thought it was subtraction rather than division.

This is cool.  I found myself struggling at first, and then as I realized what they were after my "fast math tricks" all came back to me so instead of calculating anything I remembered how to do that stuff on the fly.

I'm not sure when I first failed - maybe level 5?  but I'm going to keep going here.  about to start level 8.

I've got a learning disability with this stuff.  I never could do this, and I know that the pressure makes it far worse.  I used to not be able to do any of this in my head at all.  I've improved immensely.  Now I can do some simple math in my head.  I used to need a pencil and paper to do even the most basic stuff.  I still need my fingers.

Huh. That seems a bit odd. I would have thought that they could keep it going a bit longer than just 10 levels.

I finished and I was presented with an LSD inspired celebration about how I can do simple maths under pressure.

I want to say I miss my '93 48gx but I never did get proficient with it. Loved RPN, but the interface frustrated the hell out of me.

The current stable is a 48GX at work, an original (not the rerelease) 15C at home - mostly for brewing calcs, and a 48GX app on my phone. I had a 28S for a long time too, but sold it on ebay a few years ago.

The free 48GX app in the Google store is nice.  Someone put a lot of time into making it look like it.

I remember doing multiplication and division tables as a kid. We had races. I was really fast at division (it was like the number just popped up in my brain) but really slow at multiplication. I had to use those little tricks we all develop, and I was slower in doing so.
