Anyone use these? I was thinking of give them a try for after the bulk of fermentation is over and when I dry hop or cold crash.

I use them on my barrels.

Good idea until that gets clogged with krausen.

I assume with good results?

I do not plan them to even see krausen. As I said it would be after the bulk of fermentation is done and only for dh and cold crashing.

I haven't had anything close to a blow off in years.

is this a better or worse seal than a standard 3 piece airlock? if better i'd def be interested for long term aging or beers that I know won't produce much krausen.

That is a good question. For my application to low profile will work well for me cold crashing beers.

not sure what you mean but all the ones I have found look similar to what I posted in the OP.

i think he means the type that could fit into a bucket lid like the typical airlocks do.

Yes, I got one free when they first came out. I like them better for long term aging so there is no worries of a dry airlock. My bigger one I can jam a racking cane through to hold it in place.

From the looks of the design, I am not sure I would use it for cold crashing. It seems like a one-way valve that would not let air in. I would be afraid of putting too much negative pressure on the fermenter, which depending on the headspace, could be a fair amount.

No, the silicone flapper seals tight against the silicone body.

Yeah basically but not a bucket, it'd be nice for that sour keg I just put together (set and forget).
Looks like this should work.
Another pic I find looks like it needs a normal sized carboy opening.
