Well if we're going to use math to describe everything, then we've still got a long wait here on earth for the first coherent protein strand to develop.

Good read.

I hope we're not special and I hope there is no super predator out there. My guess is that we're in the zoo stage. Won't be long though before we're colonizing other planets. My guess is that we'll colonize a planet in another solar system within 150 years.

You've been reading too much Levinthal.

another solar system?  we'd better leave right now then.

pfft.  When we develop warp drives in 90 years it will only take us a year or so to get to the star system we intend to colonize.

in that case we better start funding science then.

Too speculative for me.  You can't make that many assumptions and expect to come out with any conclusion that is remotely reasonable.

The basic paradox seems sound to me.  There are so many worlds where life could evolve, and so many chances for life to have evolved millions of years earlier than on Earth, that we should be seeing little green men or their automated probes.

Second hand information for me.  The point stands that mankind's math is fuzzy at best.

I am hoping for that too.

I would love to be around when it happens.  Even if we do not get it on a ship to get movin anywhere for a while, just to know. . . .
