Any reason not to put a bit (half pound or so) in my Bitter recipe? It's Maris otter with about 5% each British 50-60L crystal and wheat malt.

I personally love aromatic, .5 # is a good amount and will enhance the other malts, adds a nice hue as well.

I wouldn't consider it overly traditional for a bitter, but I do like Aromatic. It's usually used to enhance maltiness and I agree about the hue... a bit of a reddish color, especially using ½ a pound in the beer. I use some in my Oktober, but only 2-4 ounces, I believe. Cheers.

I used eight ounces in my IPA a couple of days ago, No i would not say it adds to any bitterness. Its a great malt, i highlyl recommend tasting each type of grains before you crush them . Its a great experience, my nephew tasted them with me this past week and enjoyed the grains taste too. Aromatic Malt is ok , try tasting some honey malt sometime its great.
