I fired up two starters this week in anticipation of upcoming brew days in a couple weeks. I allowed myself a couple weeks time to awake these yeasts and step them up. One of these yeasts is 1272 which is about three months old. It's been sitting in my fridge in a mason jar. The other is 1098 that has been in sitting in it's Activator pack for a few weeks. The 1098 was "smacked and swelled" and refridgerated again (I ended up not being able to brew as planned). Both yeasts have been sitting in there starters for three days with very little activity. Should add I decant the wort and add fresh wort or are these dead beyond dead?!

I've had really bad luck with this. After stepping up the sluggish starter multiple times, I would get sluggish fermentations.
