So I usually have some major foaming when draining from boil kettle to fermenter. Is it ok to add some fermcap to the fermenter before racking to prevent this? Or maybe at flameout?

I don't see why it would hurt it. Fermcap was made to be used in the fermenter.

Ok, no problems with boilovers just wanted to be sure it didn't need to be boiled and it was sanitary to put in fermenter.

I still use Fermcap if I have to, but I've come to look for any other solutions before I use it. The FDA recommends that beer it's used in be filtered before consumption, and that's what breweries are required to do. I like to avoid it if possible, but will use it if there's no other solution.

Then what would be another solution for me than?

Why's that Denny? What's the ingredient that necessitates filtering?

Drain such that it doesn't foam up so much maybe?
True, right now Im draining through a stainless mesh strainer into a funnel. So it splashes and aerates quite a bit.

So the worry of Fermcap-S getting through to the final product (if it could anyway) is officially debunked.MSDS for Fermcap-S:https://www.yesmsds....pdate/index.aspWikipedia for active ingredient:https://en.wikipedia...imethylsiloxane

Could be. I still intend to avoid using it as much as possible.

the silicone in Fermcap is dimethicone which is also found in Gas-X pills for adults and antigas solutions for infants...it's safe
