Lagering will do that.  You need to plan ahead.  Nothing wrong with Bud Light until you want to spit it out.  I won't turn one down most of the time.

you can fill a 2L (or 1L if you want) with beer.  put 30 PSI into the headspace using this cap.  shake.  repeat until desired carbonation is reached.  drink.

It's a ball lock in post that you can screw on a 2L pop bottle.  OK, otherwise known as a soda bottle.  Nice little deal.  You can carb up 2L of anything pretty fast shaking at high/moderate pressure.

eta - beat to the punch.  I got a SS one because a Amazon gift card fell in my lap.  It'll last forever.

I guess I'm never in such a hurry since beer in my house last so long.  I just set the psi on my tank to about 8 and wait a few days until things are ready to drink.

I often have overflow and need to put it somewhere.  the 2L becomes the sneak preview beer for that keg.  it's fun.  i also use it to clean my serving lines (shaved it down a hair so the liquid qds would fit).

You got a SS one on Amazon? I must look tonight. I have a card for there.

I'm in the same quandary as Brewman. That would have been perfect for me stealing a little since I couldn't wait.

I usually plan 5-1/2 gallon batchs so I can do just this. Get a taste of what the expect when the keg is ready.

The carb cap also makes cheap growlers to take to brewing events. Just replace the original cap before you leave and it doesn't matter if you forget your growler at the end of the day.

Carbonator Cap.  I don't see a SS on amazon now.  It's been a year or so since I bought mine. Linky for plastic but I would wait and get SS.

I have had several carbonator caps over the years.  While I kind of like them, they always seem to develop a leak along the molding seam.  I have had 4 or so develop leaks.  Maybe I am putting too much G.I. Joe kung fu grip on them, but I have kind of cooled on them.

i kind of remember this but weren't they a lot more expensive than the original plastic model?  otherwise I might have bought one.

which seam are you talking about?  the one that splits the whole thing in half?  I would expect the leak to be in the interface to the bottle.

Yes, along the seam that splits it in half.  That's what makes me wonder if I am putting them on too tight and stressing it along that seam.

I've cranked it down hard a few times when it seemingly wouldn't seal up and it was fine.  i've actually found you can only use a 2L a few times before it gets too worn down and won't seal up well.
