Can I assume that this yeast can be used wherever I might ordinarily use 1056, 1272, WLP001, etc?  If I were to use it for https://www.brews-br.../?hl=lapse]MLPA[/url], does that seem like a decent match?  I wanted to try some new strains that I hadn't used before but I still wanted to stay in the "neutral" area.  Cheers.

it sounds like it would be a good match.

You should use this yeast with caution.  It's been known to cause people to run away from ghosts while looking for strawberries, cherries and other fruit while swallowing light bulbs.

If I make this beer, take a sip and hear that wacca, wacca, wacca, wacca..., what should I do?

Good to see you over here, my friend.  Since the crickets started chirping on our local board, you can get some good feedback (and quickly) over here.  Very good bunch of guys here.  For those who don't know, Mark (dark) may be the closest homebrewer to me geographically and he is a good guy and a great brewer.

Cheers!

Actually there is a slight truth to this. The strain has been known to leave one hanging a bit short regardless of proper pitch rate.

Meaning?  Low attenuation?  Hmm.  Should I mash a little lower or something?  Do tell.

Yea, that's what I mean. I've used the strain probably less than 10x and left me short I'd say 2-3x. I remember multiple posts about it happening to others but it's been a few years. Personally I think 1056 and 001 works the same. All three are neutral strains so after using pacman I don't have the allure to use it anymore.

Okay, so other than mashing a little lower, do you have any other advice?  Easy on the crystal, be patient and give the yeast some time, rouse the yeast occasionally, maybe let it warm up a smidge at the end of fermentation, etc?  Thanks for the heads up, Andy... much appreciated.

It does say it's a high attentater. I'm just saying that it has dropped off on me before. I don't want to say mash lower because that could be subjective. Maybe use it a few times and decide for yourself.

Gotcha.  I'm going to try it in MLPA, I think.  MLPA is a balancing act and yeast that wants to poop out before its important work is done is a problem on this beer.  I will try it and report back.  Cheers & thanks.

Wow, I've never had that happen.  If anything, the opposite.

FWIW, Rogue is anything but easy on the crystal.  The attenuation of Pacman is what allows them to do that.

Dont get me wrong. I've had good luck with it too as I mentioned. But when I had some bad luck with it I remember other folks either here or the other board saying similar things about it.
