Depending on when it got into the wort would determine if it's a potential problem or not. If the wort was still very hot, you might be fine. But if it was cooler...well....I would drink your ordinary bitter quickly. So I went to keg an ordinary bitter I brewed and I saw a strange mass floating at the top during the transfer from the bucket to keg. At the end of the racking process I closed up the keg and reached into the fermenter to find out what it was, I had initially thought it was hop material, and lo' and behold it was either a was or a male mosquito or a wasp. Absolutely disgusting, although the beer taste fine. I have no idea how it got into the fermenter. Must have been during the cooling. I think I won't share this story with anyone else outside this forum.

well - the diff between male and female mosquito is pretty apparent. I don't think I'd confuse a male mosquito with a wasp though. Mosquito bodies are much smaller than wasp bodies.I'm more intrigued that he knows the sex but not the species. I mean, how hard it is to tell the difference between an annoying little bug and Protestants?
