Is there anything I can do about these guys for good? Not only do they damage my hops but they also seem to love my basil and flowering trees. I'd like to wage an all out war on these little ####ers and destroy every last one of them.

Do you have one of the Japanese Beetle Traps out in your yard and away from the hops and plants? I have put those up for years and they have worked well. Just a thought as I would have not other idea to eliminate your pests without thatTraps

People have mentioned that to me and then I read that those trap attract more beetles than they kill. I may try them anyway...

We get those beetles around here every year. I could see that being true but thats why you don't place them near the plants that way they are attracted away from your gardening efforts. Give it a shot it might help too. Good Luck!!

How far away is far enough away? My lot is only 0.5 acre so unless I put the trap off of my property this kind of limits how far away I can get.

Hard to suggest but I would just say use good judgement and try and not place in the vincinity of where your hops and plants might be. Maybe 50 feet away or twenty paces. Try where you think best and see if it helps, if not then move it a bit further if you can but I don't think you need to get into someone else's yard too.

I found trying to capture and kill them worked ok for me, i check them about twice a day and more on a day off. I have gone two to three days and not saw them. I have not tried traps. I too have a smaller yard and don't feel like uprooting two year old plants.

They've calmed down a lot lately. I was gone for a week and a half so the little bastards had a field day on my hops. I think in the future I may throw some grub-X or something on my lawn. When I was digging out my garden this spring I noticed the grubs but I didn't know they were japanese beetles. I'm pretty sure they are.
