I have heard a few times now that this is a nice combination of hops. If not, tell me I'm wrong (I've never brewed anything with Willamette) If so, let the creative juices flow and write me a recipe for something tasty but sessionable to have on tap this fall maybe in the range of 4.5-5.5% abv. that uses a good dose of the two. Maybe an APA or a mild american brown? An Americanized bitter?

I'd do an APA. base of 2-row. 1 lb of C40 or C60 (5 gallon batch). maybe a pound of wheat if you want. bitter with whatever you want. nail it a few times starting at 10 minutes with about equal parts of willy and cascade. ferment of 1056 or equivalent. enjoy!

This is a brown ale I have done many times and I think if you add in some Willamette with the 5 and 1 minute hops it will work out nicely. As a matter of fact I may give it a try in the next couple of weeks.

Try bumping the temp to 156. good to go

I would bump it up to a full ounce of each for both additions but that's me. If nothing else maybe just the whirlpool addition. Either way it's a winner of a combination.

Sure I'll try 156F. I never mash that high so why not try? I know some brewer's attenuation doesn't change all that much as they go up. So why not see what my system will do?

Sold. A full ounce for each addition it is.

I can't really put my finger on it, just a weird flavor to me. It's got like a herby pepper flavor thing going on.

Interesting. Fuggles to me is too earthen (dirt). Willy is lighter but still earthy and (to me) compliments the "grapefruityness" of Cascade. A brewers hops ying/yang. Peas/carrots, Archie/Edith.....

Finally got around to making this on Saturday. It is smelling absolutely heavenly. Here's what I went with. Still considering if/how much dry hop. Thoughts?
