Started ordering parts last night. I haven't bought any wood yet, and I'm already $600 in. I'm sure I could have saved some money getting some parts used, but I'm crunched for time and I wanted to make sure I was getting equipment with the right specs.

Did you ever finish getting this put together? How did it work? I just haven't had the time and now the Whizbang dude is sold out of the parts I need. Luckily a friend said I could use her press. Her's wont be as productive though. C'est la vie.

All of the parts are in my basement, with no time to out put it all together. Much to my son's chagrin.Next summer will be my next opportunity to construct. Next fall will be my next opportunity to press. Two summers from now will be my next opportunity to imbibe.

Scott, did you ever piece together your whizbang? Building the cider press and grinder were a summer project here that we just finished. We did the whizbang plans discussed above. It works amazingly well. The grinder is an absolute beast. Yesterday we tried it out for the first time. We pressed 2.5 bushels of Whitney Crab, Wolf River and September Ruby and got 9 gallons of incredibly tasty juice.
