Saw this today on eBay. Not as bad deal considering you get a power supply with it and free shipping. I'm guessing it would take more than one to cool 5 gallons.

Somebody tried it one time back on the Green Board I believe. I think he used more than one but I'm not sure how many. Anyway, he wasn't happy with the results. I think glycol is the way to go.If you want to overclock your CPU though, these things work great!
Dan did it I beleive

I'm not buying one, but I thought maybe someone here might want to play a little. I dealt with them years ago and they're very inefficient.
Buy a bunch of them and cool your glycol.

I don't buy anything on eBay that originates in the Far East. Once burned, twice shy.

I automatically set my search to North America usually

I've bought several things from eBay and Deal Extreme without any problems. Takes a while to get it, but I'm not usually in a real big hurry.

The iceprobes look interesting but I'm happy enough using an AC for now

I use a peltier for ale fermentations. It's not the kind of thing any rational or sane person would do, there's no reason to use a peltier other than to make things more difficult and because peltiers are kind of cool. Here's some description of my setup:

Dave, was air alone not enough to keep the Peltier device cool?

Air takes a lot of surface area to cool 100W without a big temperature rise. The hot-side pump is basically used to spread the heat from the peltier along the fins of the radiator to get enough surface area to cool the system.
I could have done the same thing with a large block of copper or heat pipes, but it seemed easier to implement the pump and radiator.

I know what you mean. I tried to build an ice bath using 1/4" copper plate soldered in a 6X6X6" box. I put 4 Peltier devices on the bottom and even with a good fan I couldn't get it to freezing.
