Howdy Brewers,I am thinking about getting a JSP MaltMill. They come as barebones versions with whatever options you like. https://schmidling.com/bbordpp.htmExcept they can't do both fully adjustable and also gear-driven. Which do you think is more beneficial?TIA, Tom

I have the fully adjustable, well actually bought the parts to convert the non-adjustable bare bones version. I would rather be able to adjust the crush...........

IIRC I had to get a new roller and a new plate that had the adjustable bearing. Wish I had gotten that to begin with. Lots of people are happy with the non-adjustable though.

I bought the barebones fully adjustable one a couple years back .. I do not see a need for the gear drive. I currently use a 1/2 drill to power mine with a bodine waiting to go on and have never had an issue with the crush.mike

Yeah, I've been very happy with it for ?10 years.I just dropped it and the milling seems to be more coarse than it used to.

+1To the happy with the non-adjustable part, not to the dropped it part. I've run a couple thousand pounds through my non-adjustable JSP, and get 80%+ efficiency on normal gravity batches with 2 row, 6 row, wheat, etc. Get the barebones non-adjustable, and spend the rest on a motor and some lumber.Posted Image
