I have a dual tap tower on my kegerator like this...

I need to tighten the nuts on the backside of the shank. Problem is that there isn't much room to do that. Condensation is getting in the tower from the outside air and freezing my lines at the top. The shanks are pretty loose. I can only hand tighten them so much.

Anyone have or know of a tool for getting in there and tightening the shank down? The curvature of the tower is messing with all my normal tools.

Cheers!

I remember having to futz with something (beer line replacement?) inside the tower and those things are a PITA.  I can't remember ever needing to tighten anything inside so I'm not sure why you would need to do that.  I also know a number of other tower users and can't remember them ever asking about this.

Oh hey, does the top of the tower pop off?  If so, you'd be that much closer to those connections.

Yes, after you pop off the top there is a nut on the backside of the shank that tightens down a curved washer thingy. Mine weren't that tight when I got the thing. I've tried to tighten them more, but I can't get a tool down in there to really do a good job.

There are some custom wrenchs if you search tower tap wrenches. Can't vouch for this but I would probably try it.

I guess what I remember is trying to LOOSEN them to take things apart and clean it before I sold it.  I think I took a screwdriver and placed it on the nut and then used a hammer to pound it loose.  Does that make sense?  Rest the screwdriver on one of the flat sides of the nut and pound.  Seems like you could use the same technique to tighten it as well.

Sounds like a bad idea.

I did it once for some reason.  Swearing was involved.

Sounds like a bad idea.

Maybe you're not envisioning it.  I'm not suggesting destroying your tower or the hardware.  Just a gentle tap that will tighten the nut.

I ended up using a flat screw driver and a hammer.  You put the flat screw driver on the edge of the bolt (so as to turn in to the right) and lightly tap the nut until it is tight.  It's a real PITA to do.

Exactly what I was describing but probably not very well.  I was doing that exact thing but in reverse so I could loosen it.  I agree it's a PITA but it will work.  Good luck Rich.
