So, I had an infected batch of beer with the last brew day.I have been really gun shy about getting back, because I was heartbroken. But now, it is time.I have washed, cleaned, bleached and StarSan'ed all my gear and buckets. Yes I still brew in plastic. Is it safe to go back in the water, or do I need to scrap the old buckets and start over? This will not be as easy as for me as it is for you guys.Living in Brussels, Belgium there is no handy HBS and shipping is a killing me.Tim

It would be a good idea to replace those buckets. And by replace, I mean get something easier to clean like glass.

I do not want to think about the $$$ to ship glass to my APO.....or the fact the the USPS is great at breaking stuff

have you thought about getting stainless kegs locally? Many of us use them and love them FWIW.

I say go for it. Ain't nothing wrong with plastic. Just as good of a chance that it had absolutely nothing to do with plastic as that it did.RDWHAHB.

Congrats on getting back up on the horse. It's hard to get the motivation going when things don't go according to plan.I'd replace all soft tubing and the buckets. Basically anything plastic that could have a scratch on the cold-side of the brewery. Generally this is a cheap alternative to a lot of time, chemicals, and worrying, but if you can't get supplies, then just soak, then scrub everything you can as best as you can. It will probably get the job done.
