Came accross this at one of the Deal a Day sites. I wonder if it would have any brewing applicationshttps://www.guardian...ed-Details.html

Cool. I've seen UV sterilizers for aquariums before. Why not use it on brewing equipment?

OK, I believe we have established my "suspenders and a belt" philosophy.....that being said, for my peace of mind UV sanitation would require me to ascribe a far greater level of cleanliness because I would be concerned about kill rate beyond single cell depth.....

Not unless you were trying to sanitize a full carboy after the boil and the wand just happened to be the right wavelength.

Easy enough to test. Clean a bucket and sanitize the regular way. Then do the same and use the UV wand. Try to make cultures with the remnants.

Just thinking about a brew room with full carboys sitting around.I think the UVC wave length is under 400nm, which, i believe, will cause skunking. The infection problems I have seen/heard about are usually due to tiny crevices in buckets and kegs that harbor bugs, or little specks of crud in other equipment.UV light won't sanitize what it can't touch.

Yep, good points. I gotta admit that I'll stick with StarSan.
