Beer aficionados know it as a triple IPA – meaning it's triple the amount of hops in a regular IPA, which pushes the limits of flavor, intensity and alcohol content. The name Pliny refers to the Roman author and naturalist Gaius Plinius Secundus – Pliny the Elder – whom many credit with having a hand in creating the botanical name for hops, a key ingredient in beer. Pliny the Younger is his nephew."I like hoppy beers, and this is as good of a hoppy beer as you'll find anywhere," Stewart said.

Sure there is hype, but if a beer delivers, laughing at the hype is pretty sillyIs it infused with unicorn tears?Beer nerd hype cracks me up.

At first it is. By mid-week RRB was posting on the facebooks that there was no waiting in the pub. It's like video games or windows' releases, the fanboi's come first and the people with lives wait a few days.Never been willing to wait in a line around the block. Seriously, the line is that long.

When I made it, I think I did do a little subbing on the hops to account for what I had in stock. For example, I think I used Magnums for bittering instead of Warrior. I really like what they did with the late addition hops. They all come at flameout. What that does is leave a little maltiness where the flavoring hops normally would be. Stone does the same thing in Ruination. It's kinda flies in the face of hopbursting but I like what it does.Checking out that Hop Hammer recipe, I am pretty surprised at the hop bill. Not so much for the varieties chosen, but all those bittering hops! To me it seems that they could be more advantageously pared down for the bittering and hopbursted from 20 mins on for a fuller flavor and aromatic effect. I will take your word of course that it is good, just my 2c on the formulation
