I've now caught up with this season, and I have concerns. It looks like they might be incorporating the unbelievably horrible, uber-shitty plot line from the third book.I hope I'm wrong here, as it would ruin the show. :(

I've thought about readng the books, but just assumed they were mirrors of the seasons. Is this assumption wrong?

I just finished Season 5 and the Lumen story line. Got seasons 3 through 5 at the library. Waiting for the season 6 DVD from Netflix. Will be slower viewing than from library. Pretty much watched Season 5 in 3 days. Will be interested in knowing if the books are good.

The first season followed the first book pretty well; and had a better done ending, IMO.The second book was an OK read. The series began to diverge further from the books, in a good way.The third book was just a steaming pile. It changed the concept of the dark passenger in a weird and stupid way. It was as if the author thought really hard about the worst thing he could possibly do to the franchise, and then ran with it.The series has, mercifully, had nothing from the third book creep in -- untill now, possibly. :1zhelp: I read the fourth book just to see how else the author might abuse and degrade his characters. I was a bit relieved to see he changed course back, and mostly abandoned the book three shit. But, I had already stopped caring. I have not yet bothered with the subsequent books, and may never.

Season 4 was by far the best for me. Season 5 was by far the worst... bad enough that I almost quit the show. I just really hate Julia Styles, and my low expectations were set... and nothing changed them. I only kept watching, because I wanted to give it more than one season to tank. Season 6 was OK. Edward James-O kicked as as usual. This season.... It has started off in a way that make the suspension of disbelief a little tough.... to the point of being a little ridiculous.... even for Dexter.

so I jumped in the way-back machine and started binging this series.  I'd only ever watched like 2-3 episodes before (the ones that made it to network TV that one season) and I've been looking for something new that I haven't seen

just started Season 1 Episode 2

I was hoping Prodigal Son would scratch my Dexter void itch.....it doesn't. I may give up on that series altogether.

Feck I miss Dexter....except the finaly. The writers fecked that up big time.
