Will be in Boston weekend of the 28-29-30th and will be looking for watering holes with Blue Board worthy beer selections. Staying near the Longwood medical center, Green Line (Heath branch) and will be hanging with the son/fiancee who live near the intersection of Mass. Ave. and Huntington. Have seen a few mentioned here before but search didn't turn up anything. Thanks in advance.

Longwood is about a mile from The Publick House, a great Belgian beer and food bar. It gets very crowded, so I'd try to go on off-peak hours.

Deep Ellum, on Cambridge street in the Allston neighborhood of Boston, is another good bet.Another option is Sunset Tap & Grill, who have an impressive list of bottles and beers on tap, with something like a 30 page beer list. Unfortunately, they tend to go for quantity of different beers over quality. They have some obscure offerings, but those are likely to have been poorly stored.

I would highly recommend Cambridge Brewing Co..

As would I!The 27th is their Pumpkinfest, so there might be some interesting left overs, but that can limit the availability of their non-pumpkin oriented beers. That is unfortunate, because it is one of the best brewpubs in the US.If you show up and all they have left is pumpkin malt liquor, though, there is a great beer bar a couple blocks away, Lord Hobo, that has 28 usually excellent taps and a ridiculous bottle collection.About 3 blocks in the opposite direction is Mead Hall, which has 100 taps. Usually, their beer list is less interesting, to me, but it is still excellent. All 3 of these places keep their beer in top shape. I work right across the street from the CBC, and go to all 3 places, frequently.

Thanks. I'll need to pack a spare hollow leg to complete that circuit.

If you only visit a few, here's how I'd rank the recommendations:1. Publick House (great high gravity Belgians, best food of the list)2. CBC (interesting beers they brew themselves)3. Lord Hobo (great beer list, properly served)4. Bukowsky's (dive bar, good beer and good beer list, but not great)5. Mead Hall6. Sunset Tap & GrillOf course, other people's opinions may vary.

I would put Lord hobo first or more accurately the Lord Hobo/CBC combo. Hit up CBC and walk a half mile down the street to Lord Hobo, they are accissible by the Red line so you would have to switch trains.

Publick House is a certainty, mussels and frites are a weakness of mine.

If you decide to head to CBC and/or Lord Hobo let me know I will most likely be at those places at some point Saturday.

I've only ever been the cambridge one. compared to most stuff being suggested here I wouldn't bother.

Saturday would be the most likely day. If you happen to see an incredibly handsome gentleman with gray hair/moustache in the company an even better-looking guy in his late 20s, that will be us. First round is on me.
