I've heard that the Czech pronounce it like "ZOTZ". I thought Perle was "Pearl" until I heard someone say "Perlay". I thought there were some others where the pronounciation escaped me too. Can't remember them at the moment.no biggie, most of us pronounce Saaz wrong too

I have also heard that zotz is the closest/most common pronounciation. I have also heard that in that region of the world, there are enough dialects that locals do not agree how to pronounce saaz.Sort of like you can find a range to pronounce the same word in english.e.g.Wat erWad ahWote ahwa-erI've heard that the Czech pronounce it like "ZOTZ".

Yeah, then go to Alabama and it'll likely sound like something else. We change everything.I've heard that the Czech pronounce it like "ZOTZ". True. Bottom line on "Saaz" is that all homebrewers I've ever spoken with in person (mostly Illinois, Michigan or Wisconsin people), always pronounce it "Saaz", just like it looks to us. Some of these NZ hops are trying to raise the bar on hard-to-pronounce hop varieties... Nelson Sauvin, Motueka, Riwaka, Rakau, Wakatu, etc. Plenty of ways to pronounce those!Yeah, then go to Alabama and it'll likely sound like something else. We change everything.
