Saw this and was not sure if anyone was looking for a cheap pump to make a keg/carboy cleaner. Not the most powerful but it should get the job done.https://www.bensoutl...ucts/water-pump

That would work just fine. Still 21gpm @5ft head. plenty of pressure. For those of you that have keg/carboy washers, do you heat the wash then pump it or do you make a heater to control the temp while it's washing?

Currently I just heat up some water to 140 in my electric boil kettle and use that. I have also used the hottest tap water I have with no issues. When I get some free time I want to take my old 10g brewing pot and set that up with an element and control. I have all the parts, just no time.

Couldn't you use that as a submerged pump to cool wort from an ice chest full of water and ice?

I assume you mean through an immersion chiller or well, any other kind of chiller. As Schwanz said.. yup. I did that for a long time before moving to my CFC with a post chiller. Worked good.

I'm using a Simer utility pump, 1/6hp if I remember right. It works fine as a keg washer. I start with hot water and after an hour the water is still hot. Guess the motor generates enough heat.

I'm probably cleaning 4 tonight. I'll check but I bet the water is hotter when I finish than when I start.

My pump doesn't add much heat. The water will usually be about 120* after an hour or so.BEach

One guy in my old club used a 1/2 hp cast iron sump pump - it heated the water on its own, after a half hour he didn't feel comfortable throwing a carboy on it.

Forgot to measure when I started but after 70 minutes 1.5 gal of PBW solution was at 128df. Pretty much maintained what I started with FWIW. Nice shiney insides now though.
