Saw this today. That is ridiculous. Another brewery would never do this. They had to have some sort of repurposing for it or something. Then again it could have been vandals trying to get scrap. Makes me angry just thinking about it.

If people are willing to risk their lives (and they are) to steal metal guard rails from highways and wire from electric transformers, this would be low risk theft. Damn shame.

Seems like it could be an inside job or some sort of disgruntled employee with the other vandalism. If it was just a scrap metal thing, they would have been in and out with what they wanted. Or maybe they did this to make it look like it was someone on the inside. The article didn't mention it, but it seems like there were no cameras... Big mistake. I am surprised the insurance company didn't require them. Also no mention of a security system. Sounds to me like someone knew about the potential for a huge haul. It has got to be a hard thing to sell though, being so high profile and hot. I would think it would take a significant amount of time to break it down to scrap, and even at that rate, it would seem to be worth more intact. Shitty times.

If they wanted scrap, wouldn't they just steal the kegs?

Stealing and the vandalism - you would think inside job but people are strange. Deep Ellum had some outside copper water supply lines cut and stolen a couple times when they were just setting up. Then they stole the CPVC it was finally replaced with before the secured the area. Meth probably....... and of course the water ran all night. In any case no brewery will buy it and I hope the scrap yards are on the lookout. Assholes.Nice to see the industry pull together with the offer from NE to can for them.

you CANNOT scrap a keg in WA, I dunno about Iowa, but it's illegal here.
