Very sorry to hear it. 7 years does not seem to be a long enough life. I'll bow my head and chug a glass of MLPA in its honor tonight.
Great of both of you to "take one for the team".....With such a big loss I will raise a snifter of barell aged Rye IIPA in honor of a lost friend.Beach

round here you can pick up the small ones used at pawn shops cheap in the winter for $50Looks like you have a plan, but sorry your fridge went out!I am really not looking forward to when one or both of my AC units goes out. I am tempted to keep a spare one on hand, but that's expensive!

I couldn't agree more.....I constantly hear a voice from my childhood saying "why do you never have time to do it right, but you always have time to do it over?".....I thought about that when I was building the walk-in cooler, and I just don't feel comfortable getting a used unit for this purpose. I was buying used chest freezers, and they kept dying on me. I don't want to keep replacing AC units, so I'd rather buy them new just to start fresh. The one I am using is about $200 new, and it is analog, so it is very easy for me to modify, and I know that if it doesn't work out of the box, I can get a replacement (I wouldn't get a replacement after putting it in use in the walk-in cooler, just to make sure I start with a working unit).

Same here. In the summer, any AC unit still in the pawn shop almost definitely has something wrong with it.round here you can pick up the small ones used at pawn shops cheap in the winter for $50
