I have 6 pin lock kegs which I have had for almost ten years but have never used them. I always used the other ball lock ones I have. Anyway, I need to get into using a couple of them. I disassembled them a while back and they don't have liquid and gas labeled on the top of the kegs. It doesn't seem to matter, but I figured I would ask. One of the diptubes doesn't fit in one of them...

The beer diptube often has a dimple below it on the bottom. Sometimes the gas-in diptube is thinner. The gas and beer diptubes are in a certain position to each other, but I'll have to check when I get home.

Have you thought about using them for long term secondary storage? All you would need to do would be to get a pin lock connector and a Co2 Charger to hook up to it just to seat the lid properly. You could have up to 6 big beers going in secondary without fear of light ever touching them.

Some of the gas in ports have a reduced collar so the liquid out tube cannot be inserted. And as tag said, the liquid out tube will sit in a slight depression on the bottom of the keg.Since you have not dissasembled these in a while, get 2 cheap spark plug sockets, take a dremel, and cut out for the pins to fit. It makes removing the posts easier.

I have the pin lock lug. I got a couple of them working, which was what I needed immediately, but another one was giving me some issues. The poppets are also not being friendly... I took a beer shower last night :stabby:

On mine the gas is 2 pin, liquid 3 pin and when the posts are closest to you gas left, liquid right.

One thing I hate about these is the inability to manually vent. Also, I just tried to pour some to check how it is going (and to taste it cold) and it is pouring all foam. I degassed it through the beer out and then set it to 10 PSI and still all foam :stabby: I hate these kegs

All I use is pin lock. It's what I started with and all my fittings are set to pin lock. Pretty idiot proof: gas in has 2 pins, beverage out has 3. Schwanz is correct about orientation (or is it asian-tation? :P ).The only way to vent is to pop off the gas fitting and press the poppet with a screwdriver. Just hope there isn't liquid or foam at the bottom of the gas in stub.

By the way you haven't been sprayed with beer until you put a sanke coupler on without something blocking the liquid side or purging the pressure first.. 1/2" spray of beer and foam straight to the face cause my dumb butt was looking right over it.

LOL, I had a miniscule poppet leak that was invisible. All I noticed was small brown droplets magically appearing on the open fridge door. It took me a good 10 seconds to make the connection, but stopping the leak had to be done by feel. No sound, no visible stream...just drops appearing. WEIRD.

Been there, done that.Joe, do you have any trouble shooting for the all foam pour? I might have to degas this and pull out the dip tube to check it for an obstruction. I mean, it is 90% foam at least. Maybe the poppet is messed up?

You can always try lowering the pressure to something crazy low, like 6 psi and see if you still get foam. If so, then it is probably something from the dip tube out, like an obstruction. Can you swap out the tube and poppet? Also, what kind of bev line did you use? Is your regulator gauge accurate?

I can try a swap out. Regular bev line. It pours fine at those pressures out of the ball locks. I found a guy last night at UNYHA that is going to trade me 4 ball locks for my 6 pins.
