I know this is kinda beer related, but sorta not, so if it needs to be moved, I will leave it up to BBM ;)Is anyone here planning on attending this year? It is 8-3 and 8-4 at Brewery Ommegang just outside of Cooperstown (which is pretty sweet even otherwise; baseball hall of fame, etc). It is one of the high points of my year every year. So many good people, live music, huge bonfires, camping, great food, movies on the shed, and of course beer. So much beer. It is definitely ground zero for the best beer on the planet for those two days. My friend a couple of years ago took notes on everything he tried on Saturday. Over 150 different beers he had not had before. And he owns one of the best beer bars in the country. I pretty much always volunteer. If anyone else is interested, I would love to drink some beer and share some food.

I will have to try to make it one of these years. We usually schedule our NY weeks vacation to the in-laws around the 4th of July, but we have been thinking of coming up later in July or August so we can hit the ponies at Saratoga, and better chance of swimming weather at the in-laws pool.

That looks seriously tempting. When I took the kids to Cooperstown last summer, the only thing on our list we didn't manage to do was Ommegang. It is hard for me to plan that far ahead, but I am going to try.

I put the date they go on sale in my calendar...It is the day before my birthday, so I guess I know what I'm getting me for my birthday this year.

I've gone in the past but their pricing got a bit crazy once Duvel purchased them. Probably won't go with current cost structure.

Really? $90 for camping, the 4 hour tasting, live music, so much beer beyond the tasting, the sweet mini duvel tasting glass. I mean, it is not cheap but I do think it is worth it. It really hasn't even gone up that much. I haven't paid in a few years, but the year I paid I think it was just about that.

Pretty much. There are other ones, but it is mind boggling the amounts of rare or one off stuff that is brought. Tons of sours.

I went the first couple of years they had it. Back then it was $20-$30. I was shocked to see that they raised it to $75 a few years ago. The crowds also became too large for my liking. It's a shame because I live close to the brewery (less than an hour). We decided to have our own Belgian festival instead 2 years ago and might do so again. My wife found an authentic waffle recipe that is as good as the ones served at the festival (you know, where you use the dough encrusted with the sugar).

wish I could although I'd probably get totally rocked the first day with all of those high alcohol beers and be out of commission.
