There was a really awesome root beer recipe on the board of green and thought it was transfered over here. I looked on both places and even scoured my notes and hard drives for it but I'm coming up empty. Anyone have it?

Root ale has more of a root taste.

Are you looking for a from scratch recipe or from mix? I've never made my own from scratch but I'm hooked on the Zatarains root beer mix.

Its a from an extract recipe. I cant remember the brand of extract I used, it was from an LHBS but I remember the finished product was very good. They only thing I remember that it had a ton of sugar and dark brown sugar.

I have a box of the extract with the wood grain look to it. Its called Homebrew Root Beer. I picked it up at my LHBS along with one of the Cola extracts. My son and I made the Cola, but never got around to doing the root beer. It is made by Rainbow Flavors, Inc. Osage Beach, MO 65065. Let me know if you need any more info, or if you want me to pick you up a bottle.

I have one from there written down in my brew book, but it has my tweaks to it. I've made it at lest 10 times over the years.I use the Old Fashioned Brand Rootbeer base. (wood grain box)4 gallons spring or RO water, minus 4 Cups2lbs. Dark Brown Sugar7 Cups granulated sugar (original used 8 cups)3-4 Tablespoons Vanilla Extract (I use 4TBS which = a 1/4 CupI heat up a gallon of the water just enough to dissolve the sugar. Once dissoled completely, I dumped the hot liquid into the dedicated Rootbeer keg an then add the rest of the cold water and add the vanilla last, stir well and i would let it sit in the fridge for 2 weeks, then carb to 30 psi and then drink after about 3-4 weeks. If I remember, it doesn't taste too good right after making it. Been about 5 or 6 years since I made a batch. I hope this is the one you were looking for? If not, this recipe really does make some good Rootbeer.

All the ingredients, plus one bottle of the Old Fashioned Brand Rootbeer soda base/exract. https://www.homebrew...Beer_p_481.html
