Loading the family truckster up for a trip to Niagara Falls in a couple of weeks - any good breweries in the area? I'm seeing Merchant Ale and Taps Brewing, but does anyone have any experience with them? How far are they from the Falls?

Niagara Traditions is probably the best place to visit if you are in Western New York. It's really the only solid LHBS in the Buffalo or even Rochester area. It's about 40 miles from where I live and I occasionally make a trip in. It's just south of Grand Island in Tonawanda which is a hop skip and a jump from the falls area. There is a second place a little farther away, but it specializes in mostly wine. They do have some stuff, its called "Let's Do Wine." It's on Transit Road in Depew. Both are online as well.Niagara Traditionshttps://www.nthomebr...talog/index.phpLet's Do Winehttps://www.letsdowine.com/People in both places are really nice. I've done business with both of them.Dan in Attica!

I haven't hit up any near the falls, but you should check out Southern Teir Brewing. It is in Jamestown NY, and would only be slightly out of the way if you were coming from Ohio. Of the NY breweries I have tried, this is probably my favorite. They have some good stand bys-IPA, Pale Ale, etc... and some exceptional seasonal offerings. I haven't been to the brew pub yet, but I have heard good thing and I am going to get there soon.

Buffalo is only 20 minutes from Niagara Falls. On the north side of Buffalo is Flying Bison Brewing. Decent beers. Owner is a terrific dude. He'll give a tour at the drop of a hat.Flying Bison websiteAny chance you are going to be in the area on the weekend of May 2? I run a beer festival in Batavia (40 min east of Buffalo) on May 2. It is a really good time.Drop a line when you are going. Mebbe we can arrange a meet up somewhere.

That's great to know since I get stuff shipped near there.
