We got 20 lbs of a yet to be released hop so my club and the rest of WAHA can brew up some beers for 2012 NHC. We have an email into the fine people that sent them to us, but as of right now all we have is the number that was on the package (i.e. 20-1XX). I seem to remember a website somewhere that listed all the registration numbers...does anyone have that link? Curiousity is killing me.

Seems they're holding their cards close to their chest....this is the description we got:Tough to classify this variety. It has a 13.6 alpha, 5.7 beta. So it’s a high alpha variety, but it does have aroma characteristics more similar to aroma varieties. Our agronomist calls it a “special aroma” or “flavor aroma” or “dual purpose” variety. So it indeed is something different than traditional varieties out there. Not sure how to guide you on what style of beer to put it into…but just make something good out of it!As a dual purpose we'll likely make an APA and/or an IPA with our share and give the remainder to the other WAHA clubs. I'll know more about these hops when I get to give them a sniff in 2 wks at the cider press.Any ideas on what to do with these or how to look up what they may be?

Experimental hop varieties are very closely held secrets until they reach market. MolBasser

Sounds like centennial, a dual purpose high alpha hop with fine aroma characteristics similar to aroma hop varieties. I'd test it out going into it with that as a comparison in mind. I'd do a SMaSH beer with it for sure, but then also test it out in combination with an aroma variety late in the boil. That'd be my approach anyway.

Are you thinking of the USDA Accession Numbers? The link below hasn't been updated in 4 years, and it's only for cultivars that have been evaluated by the UDSA ARS. If it's a new varietal being bred, those numbers may correlate to an internal numbering system and generally be meaningless outside of that system. The numbers you list don't follow the USDA ARS format, but I figured this might be what you were remembering. https://www.ars.usda...htm?docid=14772 There is copy hosted on freshops, where might b where you saw it...https://www.freshops...ty-descriptions

yep that's what I was thinking about, but no dice. I guess we'll be brewing blind on this one.
