I had one beer advance to final, and Gordon Strong ended up taking 2nd in the category (bock) and Jamil didnt even place- makes me feel a little better. From scrolling down the list it seems there was some pretty tough competition this year, a few names repeated but not a lot. Congratulations to anyone here who advanced or placed!https://www.beertown...nt_winners.html

Yea congrats to you and to all!I have actually wondered (as Jamil has out loud on the BN a couple of times) how many people have used his Brewing Classic Styles book to advance and win at NHC and other comps.

Cool, looks like Jeff Sparrow (author of Wild Brews) won Belgian and French Ale.

I thought I recognized that name. I am reading Wild Brews right now too. A fellow homebrew club member of mine won gold in Cat 8 English Pale catergory and its interesting the guy that placed second is from my childhood hometown as well even though I don't know him.

Yeah, it's a wonderful book. I took advice directly from it after reading it, and brewed my first "wild" beer. That beer ending up winning gold last year in the same category Jeff won in this year.

At our homebrew club meeting last night one of our members CARBOY had placed first in English ESB and they were detailing the first place prize for all catergories. It was like go to Sierra Nevada for a week. Everyone brews a beer and you get some of the beer shipped back to a pub in your locale and served as well. Sounds pretty darn sweet if you ask me. We got to try the beer too. It was a good one as well.

Jimmy is one helluva brewer. I used to work at the LHBS up there and would love when he'd bring in his beer to sample.

Yes Jimmy sure brews some great beers. The ESB was nothing short of great as well. Did u do LHBS up in Durham or were you at AB? I go up to AB all the time so I probably would recognize you from there. Mike
