Just brewed this hoping for another quick turn around beer. Mashed at 152, pitched a large portion of slurry that was harvested 5 days before aiming for a quick ferment. I have used and like the combo of Challenger finished with Amarillo, and current trends in British beers has them using American hops for finishing so it is to style.Type: All Grain Date: 9/19/2011 Batch Size: 5.50 gal Brewer: Chris Cavanaugh Boil Size: 6.57 gal Asst Brewer: Boil Time: 60 min Equipment: Brew Pot (6+gal) and Igloo/Gott Cooler (5 Gal) Taste Rating(out of 50): 35.0 Brewhouse Efficiency: 76.00 Taste Notes: Ingredients Amount Item Type % or IBU 8.00 lb CMC Superior Pale Ale (3.0 SRM) Grain 80.00 % 1.50 lb Munich Malt (8.0 SRM) Grain 15.00 % 0.50 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 40L (40.0 SRM) Grain 5.00 % 1.50 oz Challenger [5.30 %] (60 min) Hops 26.4 IBU 1.00 oz Challenger [5.30 %] (10 min) Hops 6.4 IBU 1.00 oz Amarillo Gold [8.50 %] (2 min) Hops 2.4 IBU 1 Pkgs English Ale (White Labs #WLP002) [Starter 2000 ml] Yeast-Ale Beer Profile Measured Original Gravity: 1.050 SG Est Final Gravity: 1.011 SG Estimated Alcohol by Vol: 5.05 % Bitterness: 35.1 IBU Calories: 220 cal/pint Est Color: 7.3 SRM
