I'm watching a show I DVR'ed Monday night from BBC America after Top Gear, called "James May Drinks to Britain". It's the third in a series, but I never watched the first two series because they were about wine. So far, this one is pretty cool if you are interested in British beer. They mostly goof around, but so far they've shown a great deal of respect for the tradition of brewing and it's important role in developing human civilization, while acknowledging the role of beer as a damn good thirst quencher. The first episode takes place in Yorkshire, where they've visited Thomas-Fawcett and Thornbridge Brewing, where they drank the great Jaipur IPA. In addition, they visit lots of great pubs where they drink lots of hand pumped Real Ale.They show how fantastic the Station Pub can be as they travel by train from one to the next, getting rather toasted. At one point the train is 8 minutes late, so they go back in the pub for one more beer and have to run after their train. It reminded me of a time Cavman and I were in the same situation (we were even drinking Cask Ale), except we had to wait 3 hours, and still had to run to catch the next one. Check it out. You might enjoy it, but probably, like me, you'll mostly be envying the brilliant pints.

Yeah NERAX North last fall, waiting for them to tap a new cask at the bar a few minutes before our train. The timing didn't work quite right, but 3 more hours of cask ale a good portion from the UK was worth it.

BBC America, Tuesday nights. Now, I'm a huge Top Gear fan. I started watching it randomly, but it made me appreciate cars and the culture a lot more. Well, this show is a summer documented of May and his pal travel Britain learning about beer. They've done two shows dedicated for wine, but this is about the good stuff. And the show is good. Two thumbs.

Loved the episode last night. The two guys have great chemistry. Usually James May is the pedantic nerd on Top Gear; it was funny to see another guy go on and on about the beverage and he was just chugging them down instead lol

BBC America, Tuesday nights.

Just a note that this is on Monday nights, not Tuesdays.

I watched my TIVO of Monday night. I am underwhelmed. As a beer information show, it is pretty thin on material of any interest. As a road trip kind of show, the two guys are not very compelling, likeable or anything to give a rat's for.I will TIVO a couple more shows, but I doubt this show will be my cup of tea.

I watched the first two wine series last week (marathon) both the french and califonian ones were very good and I think I learned quite a bit. The way they get on is pretty dang funny. James would go on explaining stuff about cars they saw while Oz rolled his eyes.

Very common theme from the wine shows, James likes his beverages.

Tonight's episode apparently has some homebrewing in it, from the description. I wouldn't count on any revelations, but it could be fun.

the California wine show was pretty entertaining, I thought the first episode of Drinks to Britain was trying to put to much into one episode, and poorly editedbut the banter between Oz and Captain slow does make the showhave to catch up on demand for tomorrow night

the editing on the first show was VERY poor, but it was still a gret show..... It actually makes me want some "British Drink"
