I can tell you about some places in Norfolk. St. George is in Hampton, but while I highly recommend the product I don't know if there is a place to drink in the brewery.Edit: The Taphouse Grill must be under the same ownership as the place with the same name in Norfolk. Beer selection is good. Food is okay, not great. The one down here isn't open for lunch.Has anyone been to the Taphouse or Marker 20 in Hampton VA? Thinking about giving these places a go while Im up there.Dan

Also this place, which I haven't triedIf you go to Norfolk and don't mind a bunch of hipsters well stewed in their own awesomeness, check out the Taphouse, a hop skip and a jump from Hampton. Lots of good beers on hand, and lots of hipsters.

Man, when was in Portsmouth, the only places to drink were The George Washington Tavern, The Blue Jacket Inn, and The Broken Spoke.I've not been there. There's "The Pub" in Newport News, where my friend Jimmy (who I haven't seen in years) works. Heard great things about that. Also, in Portsmouth (much much more of a drive than Newport News) there's the Bier Garten, which is sort of a local beer mecca. One year they had an entire aged keg of Samiclaus. I wanted to try it, but had to go out of town.If you go to Norfolk and don't mind a bunch of hipsters well stewed in their own awesomeness, check out the Taphouse, a hop skip and a jump from Hampton. Holy Shit! They're still there? That was like 20 years ago!! And yes, they were terrible. The Blue Jacket was an early opener, and there was this fella who would plug $10 dollars in the jukebox, and play only "Layla". The full album version. Now I love Duane Allman as much as the next guy, but I wanted to strangle that dude, and the bar gal for letting him.I used to drive past those places all the time. They looked terrible.
