Are we not allowed to add attachments to a post? I looked but did not see any icon for adding them...

I believe only mods can do that at the moment, for bandwidth conservation purposes. PM a mod if you need something attached.

Ok, but perhaps the admins might like to consider allowing some limited attachments for at least Patrons, e.g., 500KB max total and only file types of .doc, .rtf, and .xls. Disallowing image file types should address the BW concern...

plus xlsm if you're gonna do xls, might as well do docx if you're doing doc.

I'd recommend zipping recipe files. They zip very nicely since they're mostly air. My .rec files are on the order of 30k but they zip down to a tiny 1.5 - 2k. I haven't tried it but I bet the same applies to .doc, .docx, .xls and .xlsx files.

That would work.

I was thinking about a forum topic where people can post various resources. Items such as useful applications, tools and documents that could be posted with a description of what the download would be used for. Sorted alphabetically, with a couple subforums. Kinda like a shoppign area.Example: I have a refractometer table in .pdf that some brewers might find helpful. I post it with a brief description.I understand there might be storage space, bandwidth and copyright considerations.Perhaps the first choice is post links to retrieve the item in question. e.g. It would not make sense to store the actual file for the promash trial, but a link would be helpful.zymot

I've already started a little bit of that. There is a FAQ listing references for malts and grains. My intention is to have several of these for yeast, hops, recipe archives, etc.
