I used PBW for the first time on a keg today. I'm rinsing it out now and even after 4-5 rinses with hot water the inside of the keg still feels slick to me. Did I make my PBW way to strong or something? I thought I didn't put a lot in (compared to the oxiclean I normally use). The slippery feel is really freaking me out!

My experience is that the use rate on the label is too much. In fact I have a hard time getting the recommended amount to disolve completely. If you have rinsed it that much, I doubt there will be enough left PBW affect your beer. I am sure you would prefer it not to be there anyway.Since you have to rinse PBW anyway, try giving the slippery surface a spritz of StarSan, that should break the slick surface.

I kept rinsing and it got better. It will get rinsed with starsan before kegging so it probably won't be an issue.

Could the slippery feeling be from the surfactant that PBW has and Oxy does not? I have used both with no issue. I do mix mine less than what they recommend because it just seemed to be to much to me.

Out of curiousity, why did you switch? PBW is a fine product, but when I originally tried my cheap walmart generic oxy and it worked splendidly, I havent seen a need to do anything different.

I picked up a bunch on the cheap in a group buy and just never happened to try it out until now. I think I'll be saving it for only the nastiest of jobs as I agree that 99% of the time oxiclean will get the desired results just the same.
