Well i guess being laid off can have its privileges. Today im attempting a couple of 'firsts' for me. Im brewing on a weekday, and im going to see if i can pull off two separate batches. Im about ready to vorlauf on a MLPA, then going to follow up with a Blonde Ale. This is too cool. Im giddy like a school girl. :)

I've been wanting to do this. I have two coolers, two keggles, and a 7qt stainless pot. I thought that I could stagger my mash's by an hour so that while I am sparging one I can be heating my strike water for the second batch, and be ready to mash when the sparge it done. :)Make sure to let us know how it goes! :P :)

I'll enjoy that sunny day when I get to step outside again at 5pm. I may not brew after that, but beer will definitely be involved.

I've done back to back before, it makes for a slightly hectic/long day but you can knock out ALOT of beer in a day. When I did it I started heating water in for the second mash right after finishing the sparge for the first batch. Just dump the grain out of the first one and giving it a quick rinse, then mashed in. Runoff was similar in that as soon as the kettle was drained I dumped the hops and quickly rinsed before filling it right back up. Save some time with overlap and also I just cleaned/sanitized my chiller for the first batch and then put some foil over the connections till the second batch ran through it a couple hours later. In general doing this made me keep moving more so than a normal brew session. Make sure to have some good notes written out as reminders so you don't overlook stuff. Normally I take about 5hrs for a batch, 6 if I'm poking along and when I doubled down it took about 8-9hrs for the two if I recall.

Now *that* would be a feat. I dont have doubles on the equipment, so ill do mine in series, one after the other. Today is also the first time for my new manifold i build this week to replace my braided hose. Works like a champ. Cant wait to see how it changes my efficiency.....Good luck on your super brew... keep us posted.

I am needing another better bottle for a fermenter, then I can do two 10 gallon batches to make it worth it. :)

I have been tempted to brew back to back and really would love to but due to starting in the evening I dont mind staying up late but not all night. When I brewed this past weekend at the commercial brewery we were at the brewmaster can brew on batch 10 BBL in 8 hours and a double batch 20 BBL in 11 hours, he said when the mast tun is empty for beer one and in the kettle it gets cleaned out and grains for #2 go in. Pretty darn good I do say. What a day is was though too.

Ok, i brewed up 5 g of the MLPA, everything was a piece of cake. Hit the numbers. The new manifold rocks. https://www.brews-br...tyle_emoticons/default/headbang.gif My Dry English yeast starter for the Blonde Ale wasnt as healthy as my Cal Ale starter. So i put that one off til tomorrow. yea i know, im a sissy. :smilielol: But at least ill be brewing on two consecutive weekdays, another first.

I brewed forty gallons in a weekend a few months back (two batches per day, ten gallons per batch, two days) and it worked out pretty well. It really helps to have all the grains ground and ready to go beforehand, as well as to have all your hop additions measured out in advance (I vac-sealed mine as well), so you're not slowing yourself down doing these things when you could be doing something else.

A couple of buddies and I managed to do 4 5 gallon batches in a day once. Granted they were extract batches but that was still a really long day.
