I was in my LHBS and overheard the clerk tell a customer that LD Carlson one-step cleanser he was holding in is hand was good for a sanitzer too. " just use that alone, and you will be fine"the clerk told him.Personally,i use starsan PBW for the keg stuff, followed up by star san sanitizer when im done. They were real busy, the place was packed. I think there were two or three of the regular guys in there. This employee that spoke im not sure he was even a homebrewer, maybe just one of the Bar helpers.( i think he just hooks up the kegs, never remember his brewing advice). Anyhow, i shall continue my sanitation the same. Just wondering what others thought of this . Thanks.

I honestly can not answer your question based on personal experience. I did try to search and research an answer so for that I will offer you these links. Seems like the manufacture says its good for it but the discussion link says otherwise. I say stick with Star San or PBW or B Brite. DiscussionLD Carlson Site

Funny, both my starter kit from HBA and my buddy's starter kit from LHBS both came with a bag of One-Step for sanitizer. Always seemed to work OK for us.

One-step produces hydrogen peroxide in solution, and it will sanitize surfaces that are already clean. You cannot clean and sanitize in one step. It would require two.I do not know the contact time required to get sanitizing effects, but it's probably best to stick with products designed to sanitize.

Sorta, will clean and sanitize but really should do at separate times, clean with one step then sanitize with one step.

One step is both a cleaner and a sanitizer, hence the name One Step. I have been using it for year when bottling because it does not foam up like SanStar does, and I have never had any issues with it. I still use SanStar for kegging because sometimes One Step does not dissolve completely and can be left behind in the keg. But I use One Step for bottling because I don't like all the bubbles SanStar leaves behind in the bottles when you empty them out. This issue was discussed once before on the GB, not sure if it helps.

I used it for my first few batches and I don't think I never had any sanitation issues. Take that for what it's worth.

Except it won't clean AND sanitize in One Step.

Here's how I see it:Step 1, clean with "One Step".Step 2, sanitize with "One Step".My conclusion is "One Step" would be better named "Two Step". :smilielol:

I've used One Step as a sanitizer for all my beers (~15 batches) and have not had any problems. As stated above, you need to clean first & then sanitize. No infections here....yet
