Going to brew this up later this week. I've found a couple clone recipes around the interwebs and they basically boil down to the following:Pale malt: 67% (US 2-row would work, British may be better)Marris Otter 17%Munich 7%C-80 6%C-120 2%Choc malt - about an ounceMagnum 60 min (thinking about 1/8 oz)EKGs 30 min (1/2 oz)EKGs 5 min (1/2 oz)Styrians flameout/whirlpool (1/2 oz)Yeast WLP 002 or 005Medium toast oak cubes in primarySome things I am pondering after having worked my way through a sixer of these beers the past couple days:Grist: The above looks about right to me, so I will go with it for my first attempt, unless anyone here has some other ideas/experienceHops: Not sure on the quantities. DBA is not bitter at all, and the 'can you brew it' recipe has it at 13 IBU. One recipe I saw was 1/8th oz mags, then about half oz of EKGs at 30 and 0 min, with 1/2 oz SGs at flameout. The other recipe I found had like 4 times as much flavor/aroma hops. I am thinking there's not much hop character in this beer and should go with the lower quantities. Yeast: Again, two different yeasts in the recipes I've found, although English Ale (002) and British Ale (005) are pretty similar. I guess I'm leaning towards 002 as it will leave a little more sweetness, which DBA has, and there's not a heck of a lot of specialty malt in the grist. Oak: The oak flavor in the DBA is there but mild IMO. Not tannic or heavy at all. I guess I will go with some oak chips or cubes in primary. Supposedly Firestone ferments for a day in ss then racks to oak to finish up primary. Anyways, I may just change my mind and boost the OG and hop this up a bit more. Would like to hear what others think of DBA and if anyone's brewed something similar.

One of my favorite beers.I did the Morebeer clone kit before, and it was really good. It wasn't quite the same as DBA, but it was still a great beer. Some of the people who tried it said it was better than the original, but I didn't agree. Let us know how it turns out... if it's close, I'll try it next.

JJ,The CYBI recipe has it at 13 IBUs because the calculation only counts hops added to the boil. IIRC, they added just a few hops at 60 and all the others at flame out and they whirlpooled. While they are WPing, they are still getting bitterness from the hops.I've been trying some WP additions since I heard the episode, and my results have been mixed, though I'm still trying. I've never had DBA so I can't comment on how close your recipe is.

Thanks for the responses.
I'm going to pick up some grain today and probably will brew this on Saturday. Assuming everything goes well I'll post an update in a month or so.
