Ive got this idea of turning this area behind my bar into something different. Its a cubby where my main fridge is located. What Im thinking is to move out this fridge and put a back bar keg cooler there. Then take some slate slabs I have for a counter top. On the sides will be some wooden shelves for pint glasses and a built in wine rack. There would be a cut out in the slate for the faucet tower and drip tray. My goal would be to have two 1/2 barrel sanke's and one to two 5g kegs placed around the sanke's. The space is 48" wide. Im pushing this width because most coolers Ive found are 48-50" wide. My questions are this. These coolers do not come with faucet tower and I would have to put one there. These coolers are cheaper and might have a better chance to fit in my space. Are there any coolant lines in the top of these things? If I cant get one to fit, any other ideas to get at least two 1/2 barrels served in this space? Thanks.

It may depend on the brand of cooler you buy. but my Monster can fit 3 half barrelsor at least 8 or 9 cornies inside. and it came with a glycol chiiling unit that runs with the beer lines to help keep them cool up to the tower. which did not come with the unit. I had a local fab shop build me a 5 tap tower and box. 48" seems a bit tight for all that you may have better luck going with 1\6th barrel'sthat still have the D-sankey tap connection but are tall and skinny like a corney keg.I think they are close to 6 or 7.5 gallons.most coolers I've seen all have the coolant line running in the back or sides.my suggestion would be to call the Mfg of the said unit you find and ask specific questions about that that way you don't kill it.good Luck and make sure to post up some pictures along the way.Cheers.

Thanks.I agree 48" is cutting it super close. I might be short by 2".Ive gone completely over to 1/2 barrels from primary to serving. Right now I have a kegerator behind the bar that can only hold two 5g kegs.My walkin cooler in my brew room which is back behind the bar area but its such a PIA to have to pull off the walkin taps which is the only space large enough to serve 1/2 barrels.I might have to do some remodeling behind the bar to be able to have the new cooler fit. Then move my other kegerator over to where my cubby is located and go that route. Just more work.

Nice build.Your score is what Im looking for. Except I dont have the space behind my bar for one that big. Actually I do, but I dont want to be staring at a tower when sitting at the bar. Id rather have it on the short side of the "L" shaped bar.Ive been keeping an eye on Craigslist, but nothing is out there.

Set up an rss feed. That's where about 95% of my craigslist scores have come from. Other than that, check out fox distributing for new equipment and some restaurant places local to you. Sometimes they can set you up with folk.

Good idea on the RSS and Foxx. We have an account with them too.Been having a hard time finding restaurant supply auctions as well.I will keep grinding till I find one. Thanks again.
