I bought a kit bout a year ago, made the wine and was actually pretty good when I drank it at the 6 month mark. Now after a year it tastes like juice. any ideas? is it because I bought a low end kit?

This is easy, I snuck in to your house and stole all your wine and replaced it with Welches grape juice. ;)

Over time acids can precipitate out (do you see crystals in the bottom of the bottle or attached to the bottom of the cork?) and oak character will decrease which can lead to sweeter tasting wine but nothing like the taste of unfermented grape juice. The less expensive kits contain more concentrate and less pure varietal juice so they tend to have a slightly more generic fruit/wine taste but you said it fermented below 1.000 so again it shouldn't taste like a glass of welches. I've made wine from the less expensive kits and kept it for over a year without any trouble.Did you try more than 1 bottle? Curious if it's the whole batch or maybe just a 1 off.
