This is a really great new law. According to the St Louis Post-Dispatch I read this morning, there's only one establishment in the state that meets the requirements. Oddly enough, the establishment is in the representative's district.Establishments have to have 45 or more beers on tap and have a substantial food business. There are a couple of restaurants with 40 tabs and lots of food business and a couple with more than 45 taps and very little food business.Seems like a rather exclusive law.Paul in St Louis

Oh come on people, you are ignoring the inherent logic of this law. How could it possibly be in the interest of the people of the state of Missouri to allow an establishment that has only 40 taps to sell growlers? Now 45 taps, and yeah, then of course it makes sense. Anyone here with legal knowledge (Deerslyr?), please tell me, isn't there anything built into the constitution to prohibit enactment of laws specifically tailored to arbitrarily favor one particular private business over others?

Point taken, but filling growlers is a major draw for novelty sake.

I used to hit up local brewpubs and get 3-5 gallons in growlers and then siphon into a keg and I'd have a "guest" beer on tap. I haven't done this since I moved to NY though, some things are just easier with a car.

I saw someone going into the Boulder Beer Co pub with a corny, dumping out some starsan foam in the parking lot. I wonder if he "knows somebody" or if they fill cornies for anyone. I'm too cheap to buy a corny-full of commercial, but I wouldnt mind having 5 gals of Hazed and Infused on tap. *drools*

Yeah, I would ask places if they'd fill one, but in the end it turned out being easier to just bring in 4 one-gallon jugs and walkout with 4 gallons of something fresh. It was a great way of keeping both my taps flowing when I wasn't brewing fast enough, plus, I lived in SD and there's no shortage of good brewing there so I even liked having some Pizza Port on tap.

I had a corny filled once a Ram brewery in Indy. It was several years ago, but they only charged me $35. One of the guys I tried to teach to brew ended up giving up actually brewing it himself and kept two taps flowing at home by taking cornies to local brewpubs. He bought 10 or 15 before I changed jobs and didn't see him anymore.
