That is almost exact to me in 5 gallon batches.Was just brewing tonight and decided to figure out roughly how much dead space I have between the brew kettle and the fermenter. Looks to be about 1 Quart. I don't know really how much is left in the kettle, but frankly, it's full of hops and break material... can't get it all right? My measuring stick, just after the boil, read around 6.25 gallons. With 1 Quart in the lines, it looks like I get another 2 Quarts in the kettle, for a total of 3. I still got about 5.5 gallons in the fermenter... oh, and I hit my gravity at exactly 1.051, which is what BeerSmith said I should be at.
