Handfuls here too, maybe one for the RyePA. I don't use any up to 30%, but that's with my setup - not yours. With 50% I would be pretty liberal with it, never gone there yet.A pound is a lot. I tend to measure rice hulls by the handful. A handful in this case is sticking my hand in the bag and grabbing as much as I can. I'd use about three handfuls in that beer.

maybe I'll see how my first run off of the RIPA goes and if it seems super duper slow I'll throw in the rice hulls for the sparge.I Still have to refine my Denny RIPA,Last time i had a terrible time with the mash out. Will use rice hulls in my next brew of this.

with batch sparging I'm not quite as concerned but if I was fly sparging I would def be vigilant!I usually throw in a handful of two just to be sure. I recirculate the entire mash and would hate to have a stuck mach.

I recirculate to maintain temps and step mash. When it comes to sparging, I am as lazy, er I mean pragmatic, as anyone.ah - I guess I figured if you had the ability to recirc you were probably fly sparging. bad assumption on my part I guess.
