So my Bday is coming up and I am asking the people who buy me presents to build me a kegerator. Well I will end up building it but I need the components. It's gonna have to be out of a mini fridge, but not my current one, that will remain the fermenting chamber. So what all am I going to need, just assume I have nothing.I want at least 2 faucets.

Fridgeco2 tank dual gauge regulator (manifold or a tee to split off for two kegs) 2 tap tower (includes the 90 degree elbows if new, if used, make sure they are included.)6-7' of 3/16" ID tubing for each tap (assuming 10-12 PSI in a 40F fridge)call it 4 feet 1/4" id tubing cut to fit for gas line two each gas and beverage ball lock connectors Other than that, I think just kegs and the tools to convert, but those can be easily borrowed. The extra length on the liquid line will help minimize foaming, but I always got more from a tower than a chest freezer conversion. If you felt inclined to do so, rig up a computer fan to blow cold air into the tower, that'll keep the lines cold and further prevent foaming. It sucks getting 1/2 pint of foam just because the lines in the tower got warm.

danby makes a fridge that's perfect for 2 kegs...i think it's 4.4 cu ft (no freezer) or something like that.

it's going to be really tough for all different people to buy all of the components. I'd have them cover the fridge, CO2 tank and regulator. Have the other poeple give you a gift cert to a place like micromatic to pick up parts you'll need.

I get what you are saying. I think you need to kind of figure out the exact list yourself though b/c you'll have to understand things when you go to put this together. It's pretty easy though:The right fridge (just go with one that's been modded in used with success - mine is the sanyo that's no longer available)CO2 tank (usually 5lb will fit in the fridge or you can get something bigger if you are going to run the line from outside the fridge)Regulator with built in manifold or regulator with an inline manifoldgas and beer linehose clampsgas QDs and liquid QDsNow for the faucets I highly recommend getting all SS and probably front sealing faucets. Find them at the best price you can.Buy SS elbow shanks as wellPick up the tower separately - I bought mine here: ACU They have the best prices on SS towers as far as I can tell.If you don't take my advice on the SS faucets you can just buy a tower with faucets and shanks and beer line already built up at a place like micromatic. If you want SS parts I think buying individually will get you the best prices and I don't think I've ever seen all SS parts all put together. Sometimes the tower will be SS but the faucets and shanks won't be.at least 3 soda kegs (good to have one ready to go). If you find a deal on a 4 pack of kegs I'd even do this. You won't complain about having extra kegs around.ETA: faucet wrench like this - Posted Image

I'm going to jump in on this tread as well as I think I'm on topic.... SWMBO has said she'd buy me a kegging system for the holidays and won't make me wait (cause I'd just buy it now anyway and she'd have nothing to give me). I'll probably buy the 2 keg system (ball lock) from Midwest. Initially, will use the picnic taps and my chest freezer but plan to acquire a fridge for a true kegerator as soon as I can find a free/cheap or not free but "perfect" one. If I order the kit, it looks like it comes with all I need to get started kegging. However, I know there will be other things I'll need/want to keep it running smoothly. Any advice for the initial purchase. My short list is new sets of o-rings. What about wrenches? -Are the cut faucet wrenches only for the tap handles or are they needed to properly disassemble and clean a keg. I'm anxious to order and get these working so I can brew more... my brewing is limited by bottle inventory! Thanks.

the faucet wrenches are just for taking the faucet off and for the nut on the shank. for the keg you'll want a deep socket or wrench. probably 12pt. not sure on the size as there are two different sizes. It's 7/8" (I think) and then another similar size. You'll also want to get a dip tube brush. If you don't have oxiclean or PBW or something similar you'll want to pick that up as well.
