I had Lemonade teh JOOSE in the fridge for a while, but tonight was the first night I could get into it. With a new baby in the hospital (with the wife) and the old ones in bed I figured it would be a good night to hit teh JOOSE (and some mead). Only one can though, this is a review night, I have found it is hard to do that with II (two) the JOOSE in the gullet.A small amount was poured into a clear glass to inspect the color. Now the can proclaims “LEMONADE”, but the color in the glass was PINK! I did not see pink lemonade listed anywhere. Even though CERTIFIED colors are listed on the can, I guess they were used, I thought lemons were yellow.Well we move past that, THE TASTE. I have tasted lemonade, even that made with real lemons from the skin. I am not a big fan of the sour drink, but at least I have a reference. The JOOSE Lemonade, quite there. No real sourness, but the high alcohol definitely took its place. Not that it was horrible, but I am sure that no one would ever be confused in a blind taste test. It was sort of a mix of lemon with cheap vodka, but not enough to burn your throat. The flavor is just enough to make you know that you are not drinking either straight liquor or straight lemonade. It is 12% alc/vol. That is never a bad thing. Though this can does list all of the important ingredients in a proper the JOOSE, i.e. premium malt beverage, natural flavors, caffeine, ginseng, taurine, and certified colors, I am not sure where “the lightening” is. Since there was little lemonade flavor to begin with, there is little that lightening can do to fix it. However, lightening did seem to add its own little bit to the flavor profile. The shock, perhaps, of the pink color was probably overcome with the lightening. In the end, Lemonade, yummy. Not grand, not true lemonade worthy, but good. I still list Watermelon as my favorite teh JOOSE (it actually tastes like watermelons with good alcohol inside), but lemonade is still pretty good. It sort of tastes like its name, without a bad aftertaste and actually has all of the appropriate teh JOOSE ingrediantes.Enjoy. Off to MW2 now.
